Location: City of London (other locations also available!)
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + benefits package!
The Role:
My client are particularly well-known for working with complex clients with challenging issues in fast-moving and highly technical areas, such as the insurance industry, the global capital markets, and the not for profit sector. Their aim is to understand people, the organisations they run, and what matters to them, so they can simplify complexity and help them achieve their ambitions. Due to growth, they are in need of a confident VAT Manager. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering VAT consultancy and compliance services to a broad portfolio of clients. With the VAT team planning to double in size over the next 3-5 years, this position offers significant opportunities for career progression for ambitious candidates.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, concise, and practical VAT advice to clients, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Assist clients in resolving VAT disputes through negotiation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and obtaining written views from HMRC.
- Manage client portfolios and generate new opportunities by addressing VAT-related inquiries.
- Liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders to mitigate unexpected VAT costs, interest, and penalties for clients.
- Assist with VAT input on transaction services, due diligence, and restructuring projects.
- Investigate and resolve VAT queries, review VAT returns, and oversee VAT registration applications.
- Deliver training to staff and clients on VAT matters.
- Supervise junior staff, encouraging their growth and development through training and mentorship.
The Individual:
- ACA, CA, CTA, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in VAT advisory and compliance work within a professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of VAT principles and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to non-specialists.
- Confidence in managing a large client portfolio profitably and generating new business opportunities.
- Up-to-date technical knowledge across a broad range of industries.
- Someone who is thoughtful, reflective, and well-researched in delivering advice and opinions.
- Organised, efficient, and responsive with a proactive, positive attitude.
