Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented CPA or CPA candidate who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about providing exceptional client service. The Senior Accountant will handle complex accounting and tax matters while serving as a mentor to junior staff members.
The successful candidate will work directly with partners and managers on high-level client engagements, manage multiple client relationships, and contribute to the firm's continued growth and success. Essential Responsibilities
Client Service & Relationship Management
Tax Preparation & Planning:
- Prepare complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns using professional tax software
- Conduct comprehensive tax planning analysis and provide strategic recommendations to minimize tax liability
- Research complex tax issues and provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions
- Review and supervise tax returns prepared by junior staff members
- Communicate tax strategies and findings to clients in clear, understandable terms
- Stay current with federal and state tax law changes and their impact on clients
Financial Statement Services:
- Prepare compiled, reviewed, and audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Perform audit fieldwork including testing of internal controls, substantive procedures, and analytical reviews
- Document audit procedures and findings in working papers using firm audit software
- Assist in planning audit engagements including risk assessment and materiality determination
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules prepared by staff accountants
QuickBooks & Bookkeeping Services:
- Provide QuickBooks consulting services including setup, training, and ongoing support
- Perform monthly and quarterly bookkeeping services for small to medium-sized businesses
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Assist clients with cash flow analysis and budgeting processes
- Train client personnel on proper bookkeeping procedures and internal controls
Team Leadership & Development
Staff Supervision & Mentoring:
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and administrative staff
- Review work product of subordinates for accuracy and completeness
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to help team members develop their skills
- Assist in training new hires on firm procedures and client service standards
- Participate in performance evaluation process for junior staff members
Project Management:
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation and information
- Communicate project status and timeline updates to partners and managers
- Ensure all work meets firm quality standards and professional guidelines
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and client service delivery
Business Development & Client Relations
Client Communication:
- Serve as primary contact for assigned client relationships
- Conduct client meetings to discuss financial results, tax strategies, and business issues
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and provide timely solutions
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key clients
- Identify opportunities for additional services within existing client relationships
Proposal Development:
- Assist partners in preparing proposals for new client engagements
- Participate in new client meetings and presentations
- Conduct prospective client interviews and gather engagement information
- Help develop fee estimates and engagement letters for new services
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA Status: Active CPA license preferred, or CPA candidate actively pursuing certification
- Continuing Education: Commitment to maintaining CPE requirements and staying current with professional standards
Professional Experience
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressive public accounting experience
- Tax Experience: Extensive experience with individual and business tax preparation and planning
- Audit Experience: Experience with audit, review, and compilation engagements preferred
- Client Service: Demonstrated track record of managing client relationships and delivering quality service
Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
- Tax Software: Proficiency with professional tax preparation software (CCH Axcess, Lacerte, or similar platforms)
- Audit Software: Experience with audit software such as CCH Knowledge Coach, CaseWare, or similar platforms
- QuickBooks: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Pro, Premier, and Enterprise versions
- Microsoft Office: Expert-level skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Financial Systems: Experience with various accounting software and financial reporting systems

Working Conditions & Requirements
Schedule & Environment
