The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing a complex and varied client portfolio, providing strategic tax planning, and ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail, a passion for client service, and a desire to take on a leadership role within our tax practice. Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Preparation: Prepare and review complex federal and multi-state income tax returns for corporations (C-Corp & S-Corp), partnerships, trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
Client Management: Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for a designated book of clients, building strong, trusted advisor relationships.
Tax Research & Planning: Conduct in-depth tax research using CCH, RIA, or other platforms to address client issues, propose planning opportunities, and ensure technical accuracy. Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize their tax liability.
Review & Mentorship: Review work prepared by Staff and Associate Accountants, providing constructive feedback and guidance to aid in their professional development.
Client Advisory: Identify and proactively communicate tax issues and planning ideas to clients and firm leadership.
Audit Support: Represent clients and manage correspondence with federal and state tax authorities during examinations and notices.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of firm best practices and procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications & Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's in Taxation highly preferred.
CPA certification is required.
4+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firm.
Demonstrated, hands-on experience with complex business (1120, 1120S, 1065) and individual (1040) tax returns.
Strong proficiency with tax research software (CCH, RIA, BNA) and tax preparation software (CCH Axcess, UltraTax, or Lacerte). Experience with CCH Axcess is a significant plus.
Excellent understanding of tax code, regulations, and technical pronouncements.
Superior client service and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a non-technical audience.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
