About the Role


Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager with specialist real estate knowledge to join their dynamic tax team in London. The successful candidate will be CTA qualified and possess extensive experience in managing complex corporate tax matters for real estate clients.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of real estate clients including property investment companies, REITs, development companies, and property funds
  • Prepare and review corporation tax returns for complex real estate structures
  • Provide strategic tax advice on property transactions, acquisitions, disposals, and restructuring
  • Handle VAT matters including option to tax elections, partial exemption, and land and buildings transactions
  • Advise on Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) compliance
  • Manage relationships with HMRC including handling enquiries, disputes, and clearance applications
  • Collaborate with other departments on multi-disciplinary client engagements
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members
  • Stay current with tax legislation changes affecting the real estate sector
  • Support business development activities and client relationship management


Essential Requirements

  • CTA qualification (Chartered Tax Adviser) with current membership
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate tax with substantial real estate focus
  • Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax, VAT, SDLT, and ATED
  • Experience with property investment structures, REITs, and property development taxation
  • Excellent technical knowledge of real estate tax planning strategies
  • Strong client management and communication skills
  • Proficiency in tax software (CCH, Digita) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • ACA/ACCA qualification advantageous


Desirable Experience

  • Mid-tier practice experience
  • Knowledge of international real estate tax issues
  • Experience with property fund structures and tax-transparent vehicles
  • Understanding of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
  • Previous line management experience
