Tax manager

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager (CPA) to join a growing public accounting team in Cranford, NJ. This role is ideal for a professional with Big 4 and mid-size firm experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will lead tax engagements, provide technical guidance, and mentor staff while delivering high-quality service to a diverse client base.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee tax engagements, including individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary returns.

  • Lead tax planning, research, and consulting projects for clients across multiple industries.

  • Review and ensure accuracy and compliance of all tax deliverables.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff and senior associates.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing proactive tax advice and solutions.

  • Collaborate with partners and leadership on workflow management, business development, and client strategy.

  • Stay current with federal, state, and local tax regulations and guide the team on technical issues.



Qualifications:

  • Active CPA license required.

  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting.

  • Background in Big 4 and mid-size CPA firms strongly preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws, compliance, and planning strategies.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to work on-site in Cranford, NJ (5 days per week).
