The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Audit Senior to join a forward-thinking and well-established UK accountancy practice in Manchester.

This role is ideal for an ambitious qualified or part-qualified professional seeking to broaden their exposure across a diverse client base and play an active part in delivering high-quality audit and assurance services.

You'll work closely with experienced managers and partners, taking responsibility for the planning and execution of audit engagements and supporting the continued development of junior team members.



Key Responsibilities for the Audit Senior role in Manchester

  • Lead and deliver audit assignments for a portfolio of small and medium-sized companies, charities, and not-for-profit organisations.

  • Take ownership of audits from planning to completion, including risk assessment, fieldwork, and preparation of audit findings for manager and partner review.

  • Supervise, coach, and review the work of assistants and trainees, providing on-the-job feedback and ensuring audit quality and compliance with ISA (UK) standards.

  • Prepare financial statements for companies and charities in accordance with FRS 102 and the Charities SORP.

  • Prepare corporation tax computations and liaise with the tax team where required to ensure complete and accurate submissions.

  • Contribute to ad hoc and specialist assignments, including financial due diligence, cashflow forecasting, and support for other regional offices where appropriate.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring professional delivery throughout each engagement.



About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist) with 12-24 months' recent UK audit experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 and an understanding of audit methodology and risk management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident liaising with clients, managers, and colleagues at all levels.

  • High level of technical competence, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a genuine desire to develop professionally and contribute to a collaborative, quality-driven audit team.

  • Experience with CCH Audit Automation, CCH Accounts Production, or Alphatax is preferred (training will be provided).
