Semi/Senior Accountant

Job Purpose
Use your knowledge and skills to deliver a first-class service to clients while providing accounts and audit support within a busy accountancy environment.

Duties

  • Oversee client bookkeeping

  • Manage and take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients

  • Prepare complex company financial statements

  • Prepare interim management accounts

  • Prepare personal tax returns

  • Prepare partnership accounts and returns

  • Review and submit quarterly VAT returns

  • Produce forecasts and business projections (desirable, not essential)

  • Attend client meetings and liaise with directors and business owners

  • Train team members and allocate duties

  • Undertake company secretarial duties (desirable)

  • Prepare P11Ds (desirable)

  • Provide payroll support (desirable)

  • Carry out any other general accountancy or administrative tasks as required

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in an accountancy practice

  • Proficient in Sage 50, Xero, and QuickBooks (essential)

  • Experience with IRIS and Sage Business Cloud (advantageous)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent time-management abilities

  • Exceptional communication skills with a professional telephone manner

  • Strong written and technical skills

  • Effective prioritisation and organisational abilities

  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately

  • Strong record-keeping skills

  • Willingness to work additional paid hours when required

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or close to completion
