About the Role

A well-established and growing accountancy practice is seeking an Audit and Accounts Supervisor to join its Borehamwood office. This position is ideal for an experienced auditor who can deliver high-quality assurance services across a diverse client portfolio while supervising and developing junior team members. You will work closely with Managers, Directors and Partners to ensure all assignments are completed on time, within budget, and to the firm's high standards. The role offers a salary of £40,000-£50,000, depending on experience.



Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for allocated clients, obtaining required information and maintaining clear, professional communication.

  • Build strong internal and external relationships, supporting client retention and identifying cross-selling or new business opportunities.

  • Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and internal standards.

  • Prepare audit planning memoranda, programmes and budgets, proactively identifying key audit and control risks.

  • Ensure audit areas are completed accurately, within deadlines and budget, while coordinating and supporting the audit team.

  • Resolve audit file queries and provide constructive feedback to junior staff, identifying training and development needs.

  • Prepare audit reports, management letters and closing reports in accordance with professional standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, workpapers and filing practices.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring and on-the-job training to junior team members.

  • Support billing preparation, draft fee quotes and assist with small to medium-sized proposals.

  • Keep up to date with developments in audit, accounting, taxation and relevant software.



About You

You will be a confident communicator with strong leadership abilities and excellent organisational skills. You should be able to manage multiple priorities effectively and demonstrate a proactive, solution-focused approach.

You will also have:

  • Advanced experience in an accounting practice environment.

  • Excellent understanding of audit and accounting software, along with strong MS Excel skills.

  • ACA or ACCA qualification.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff and management.

  • Proven supervisory and team-management capabilities.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

  • A proactive approach to process improvement and staff development.
