A well-established accounting firm in Harrogate is seeking a Personal Tax Senior to join their dedicated tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant looking to develop their personal tax expertise while working with a diverse range of high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and trustees.
About the Role:
Working within a supportive and collaborative team environment, you'll manage your own portfolio of personal tax clients while handling increasingly complex tax matters. The role combines technical tax compliance with advisory work, offering genuine progression opportunities and client interaction within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Self Assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts
- Review tax returns prepared by junior team members
- Calculate and advise on income tax liabilities, payment deadlines, and payment on account requirements
- Prepare Capital Gains Tax computations and advise on tax planning opportunities
- Assist with Inheritance Tax calculations and IHT400 returns
- Provide practical tax advice on property transactions, investment income, and business disposals
- Handle HMRC correspondence and manage routine enquiries
- Liaise directly with clients to gather information and explain tax positions
- Identify tax planning opportunities and work with Partners on advisory projects
- Maintain accurate time records and assist with billing processes
- Support business development through excellent client service
What We're Looking For:
- ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or part-qualified with relevant personal tax experience
- Strong technical knowledge of UK personal taxation
- Experience working in an accountancy practice environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during busy periods
