A well-established organisation in the financial services sector is bringing in an experienced Reconciliation Specialist on a 6 month fixed-term contract to untangle historic balance sheet issues and leave behind something far more robust than a sticking plaster. The role is based in Leicester, with hybrid working baked in from day one.
The opportunity
This contract has a clear purpose. You'll be given ownership of complex nominal ledger reconciliations, long-standing discrepancies and incomplete documentation, with the mandate to investigate properly and put sustainable processes in place. As a Reconciliation Specialist, you're not just closing gaps, you're making sure they don't reopen once you've moved on.
The role sits within a collaborative finance team operating in financial services, offering enough autonomy to get on with the job without being left to fend for yourself.
What you'll be doing
Reconciliating a broad range of nominal ledger and balance sheet accounts with historic issues
Investigating unreconciled items, variances and data gaps, then driving them to resolution
Creating clear, standardised reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation
Designing practical processes the wider team can maintain after the contract ends
Working with finance and non-finance stakeholders to understand transaction flows
Supporting month-end close and producing audit-ready working papers
This Reconciliation Specialist role is hands-on, investigative and suits someone who enjoys methodically bringing order to messy numbers.
What we're looking for
Strong experience in reconciliation-heavy roles within medium to large finance teams
Confident understanding of nominal and general ledger accounting
High attention to detail paired with the ability to see the bigger picture
Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of deliverables
Clear communicator who can challenge constructively when needed
Experience within financial services environments is helpful, as is exposure to finance clean-up or transformation work. Knowledge of D365 Business Central would be useful but is not essential.
