Role Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This position involves managing complex accounting functions, supporting audits, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Monitor compliance with statutory requirements, tax filings, and regulatory obligations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and financial accuracy.
Mentor and guide junior accountants, providing training and support.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
Proven experience as a senior accountant or similar role, ideally within [industry].
Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
