About Them:

Are you a Commercial Real Estate Tax professional who enjoys working on complex partnership and corporate tax matters, advising sophisticated real estate businesses and investors?

My client are looking to appoint a Tax Senior Manager within its Commercial Real Estate practice, supporting an impressive portfolio of real estate clients across the New York Metro market. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to combine technical tax expertise, strategic advisory and senior client relationship management with the opportunity to take real ownership of complex engagements and help shape the continued growth of the practice.

The Opportunity:

You'll work closely with commercial real estate businesses, investors and other stakeholders, helping them navigate complex tax matters across their real estate portfolios and providing practical advice around structuring, compliance and tax planning. Your role will include:

  • Taking ownership of complex Commercial Real Estate tax engagements from initial planning through to completion
  • Providing strategic oversight of partnership and corporate tax engagements across commercial real estate portfolios
  • Advising clients on tax structuring, planning and compliance matters
  • Supporting investor reporting and addressing the tax considerations affecting real estate investors
  • Developing detailed engagement work plans, including budgets, timelines and resource requirements
  • Monitoring engagement progress and communicating key developments to both clients and internal leadership
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional tax advisory services, including structuring, research and transaction-related advice
  • Conducting and overseeing complex tax research involving the Internal Revenue Code and applicable regulations.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and developing strong, long-term relationships
  • Providing clear and commercially focused advice while maintaining a high standard of technical quality
  • Managing billing, collections and overall engagement economics
  • Providing direction, mentoring and support to junior and senior members of the tax team
  • Working collaboratively with wider real estate and professional services teams to deliver integrated solutions to clients

The Individual:

  • 8+ years' experience within public accounting
  • Current and relevant Commercial Real Estate tax experience
  • A strong understanding of the Internal Revenue Code and tax regulations
  • Experience advising real estate clients on tax structuring, planning and compliance
  • CPA qualification
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Strong technical research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain senior-level client relationships
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with tax and accounting technology such as ProSystem, GoSystem or CCH Engagement would be advantageous
